Judy, Melissa and Larry at Riverside on the Root
The warm weather is soon behind us, like the fading summer sun. To help close out our season on the trail, dozens of folks in Lanesboro gave The RavensFire Band a warm welcome at the Riverside on the Root restaurant last Saturday night. Not only did the people sing along to the music; the crickets, cicadas, and tree frogs joined in for an evening song-fest, raising quite the ruckus.
Did you know that after serving in the Air Force, Larry earned a degree to become a Certified Luthier – building and selling high-quality hand-made mandolins and guitars, and repairing stringed instruments? Larry built the guitar you see at RavensFire performances. The guitar sounds great, allowing Larry to offer the strong and spirited accompaniment to Melissa and Judy’s harmonies. Besides the guitar, audiences love Larry’s lead in renditions of favorite tunes like The Boatman’s Dance, and Wild Rover, and his jokes and wise-cracks during lulls in the music.
RavensFire created a lot of good memories over the summer, including the RavensFire CD. Thank you to everyone who has helped make the summer and CD release a success. There will be plenty of chances to see more of RavensFire this fall, starting with the Rochester Irish Fest over the Labor Day weekend.
