St. Patrick’s Day at the High Court Pub in Lanesboro
For a traditional Irish band, St. Patrick’s Day is the high season. To celebrate the holiday this year the RavensFire band played at the High Court Pub in Lanesboro. Paul and Lu served up an enticing Irish stew and delicious shepherd’s pie with soda bread. They are wonderful hosts, which helps explain why so many people packed the pub the entire time RavensFire played.
Something gets into people on Paddy’s Day. Everyone wears green. Guinness is popular. Smiles and happy greetings abound. People share fun stories, like the one Paul told about how the Irish settled the area around Lanesboro. He also reminded us locals called the hills between there and Fountain Irish Ridge. Maybe that explains why so many “Irish” friends stopped by the pub Friday night.

View from the stage
The crowd was in a party mood, loudly clapping along to Wild Rover, and listening intently when Judy sang Summertime, even if it wasn’t Irish. Maybe everyone is just eager to see the end of winter?
