Last Saturday the RavensFire band had the pleasure of singing at the 13th annual La Crosse Irish Fest. Every year the festival is more fun, and this was the best yet. There’s a unique set of people who really like Irish ballads, pub songs, and beautiful harmonies; that’s exactly what RavensFire does best. Everyone in the audience that day joined in to clap along with the chorus to Wild Rover.
We love to honor requests from the audience. That day’s request was deeply moving. For the full set, a group of three people sat near the front, near the left side of the stage, one of them in a wheel chair. They enthusiastically sang along to the familiar tunes, from the first song to the last verse of Three Sheets To the Wind. The three greeted us as we left the stage. The man in the wheel chair told us that he’d wanted us to sing Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ra in memory of his recently departed wife. Everyone shed a few tears as the little group huddled together for a private moment sharing a favorite Irish lullaby. We won’t forget that experience; it’s why we do traditional music.
Thank you to all the good friends who joined us in La Crosse and enjoyed traditional Irish folk music.
The RavensFire Band is well known all around the area for their energetic performances, beautiful vocal harmonies, and skilled instrumentals while playing and singing their unique collection of lively traditional Irish, Folk, World, Americana and original music.
