The RavensFire band has been busy the last couple of months. If you’ve followed the Facebook group or the band calendar, you’ve seen some of the events, but not all. We have enjoyed every event and were lucky to see a lot of band fans at these gigs.
The town festival season finished up in September, with the Chatfield Western Days and Wabasha-Kellogg Septoberfest both featuring the RavensFire band. Everyone who came to the festivals enjoyed beautiful sunny days and lots of great food. Each festival has a unique personality, just like the towns, and we love every one of them.
The band spent a fun Saturday evening at the High Court Pub in Lanesboro, playing and singing to a full house of locals and tourists enjoying a cool and rainy evening away from home. Everyone kept warm with familiar tunes, harmonies, food and beverages.
For a different experience RavensFire joined friends at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. RavensFire was honored to play on the main stage at the walk, encouraging those walking to support those affected by Alzheimer’s.
One summer Sunday morning RavensFire joined Calvary Episcopal Church for their Sunday morning service. We brought out a whole different set of tunes, including favorite hymns like Beautiful Savior. One of the things we really enjoy as a band is the variety of music we are asked to share with friends.
Another weekend, one of the Spring Valley churches invited RavensFire to join them for a Saturday evening of pot-luck food, beer, and music. Everyone there sang along with pub songs and familiar or not-so-familiar hymns. We all enjoyed a pleasant evening on the farm with friends and family.
The Kutzky Park Porchfest in Rochester is a uniquely popular music festival. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon a dozen bands and family groups came together around the Kutzky Park neighborhood to play for a couple of hours, each on one of a dozen different porches and driveways. Neighbors and friends wandered through the ‘hood and discovered all kinds of music from bluegrass to jazz to classical and RavensFire. Food trucks and a beer bike added to the festive atmosphere, giving hundreds of people a reason to look forward to doing it all again next year.
This month RavensFire is busy booking Christmas events and planning for 2018. If you have a party or group event please consider inviting the band to join you. In the meantime, take a look at the calendar to find a time you can join RavensFire for a couple of hours of fun and music. You can find the band at Four Daughters, Absolute Theatre, or in the Skyway in downtown Rochester, among other fun places.
The RavensFire Band is well known all around the area for their energetic performances, beautiful vocal harmonies, and skilled instrumentals while playing and singing their unique collection of lively traditional Irish, Folk, World, Americana and original music.
