The RavensFire band celebrated the St. Patrick’s Day holiday in the best way possible – by sharing traditional Irish music at every opportunity! We started a week early at the Salem Glen Winery, playing for a full house who enjoyed both the music and the wine. During the actual week of the holiday, we visited the People’s Food Co-Op in Rochester for their open house. RavensFire played traditional music while customers sampled treats throughout the store. Perhaps one of the most enjoyable parts of the evening was the little girl who moved in close to hear Judy sing a lullaby. Or maybe when the staff gathered around to dance and sing along when the band serenaded the host at the beverage sampling table? These experiences set the stage for a weekend of fun.
We also visited a local nursing home where our home-bound friends enjoyed an hour of acoustic Irish music. There’s something special about a moment like that.
On Saturday night, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in full form, at Charlies Eatery and Pub. The crowd was in full swing, filling every table and chair, and singing along with the familiar tunes. One of the more enjoyable parts of the evening was when a sweet little girl (she’s maybe eleven?) moved in from the wedding reception next door to dance a quick jig for an appreciative crowd. If that’s not fun, there isn’t fun. She got a cheer from everybody in the room.
The next day RavensFire returned to another favorite haunt, the Four Daughters Vineyard in Spring Valley. That was a relaxing afternoon with many friends who joined us for the good food, beverage and the best Irish and folk tunes.
We all had a lot of fun, and look forward to next year’s celebration. Before that, the band’s calendar is filling up with a lot of fun activities, including an hour of acoustic music at the Scottish Ramble in St. Paul. We’re hoping to see many of our Twin Cities friends at the Landmark Center that day. It might be worth your time to stop by.
The RavensFire Band is well known all around the area for their energetic performances, beautiful vocal harmonies, and skilled instrumentals while playing and singing their unique collection of lively traditional Irish, Folk, World, Americana and original music.
