The RavensFire band has some fun traditions. One of these traditions is a St. Patrick’s Day house party we’ve played many times. Everyone there enjoys good music, and a few other folks always show up with their instruments to join in the fun of playing traditional Irish music.
This year various conflicts forced the party to move from March to May, and that only increased the anticipation and fun. Was it a coincidence that we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Cinco de Mayo? Even with two reasons to celebrate, the focus stayed Irish, so we enjoyed corned beef and cabbage, traditional soda bread, lots of fabulous desserts, a little Black and Tan, and a wonderful selection of good Irish whiskey.
Then there was the music. Mostly Irish, but plenty of folk, popular and traditional music.
Our friends Bill and Charlie came with their accordion and fiddle. People at this party know how to enjoy music. The toddlers wandered up and tried to help play the instruments. The girls danced a jig. Lots of guests joined in singing. We closed off the evening with a boisterous rendition of The Scotsman’s Kilt. You had to be there.
We love joining new and old friends at their homes to celebrate. There’s always something to celebrate, and a little live music adds that special touch. Everyone has fun listening to, singing along with, or dancing to traditional music. Give Melissa a call and see if we can come to your party.
The RavensFire Band is well known around the area for their energetic performances, beautiful vocal harmonies, and skilled instrumentals while playing and singing their unique collection of lively traditional Irish, Folk, World, Americana and original music.
