End of Summer

The RavensFire band had a fabulous summer, topped off with a busy August. Thank you to so many of our friends who came out to see us at one of the many performances around the area.

We started the month in Lanesboro at one of our favorite town festivals, Buffalo Bill Days. The band took to the gazebo immediately after the Grand Parade, entertaining hundreds of people who tapped their toes to the music while enjoying the amazing variety of food from the vendors surrounding the band shell. Best of all for us were all the friends we visited with during the breaks and at dinner after the show.

Over the Back Fence

For the last 24 years our friend Damon has hosted a radio show, Over the Back Fence, originating in the St. Mane theater in Lanesboro. We’ve played there before, as a featured artist, and this time they invited the band to play the intro music before the show went live. The audience had a fabulous time singing along, tapping toes, and clapping hands to lots of familiar folk tunes. We had fun, the audience had fun; everyone was happy and ready for the main show when we finished. We can’t wait to get back there again.

On the patio at the High Court Pub

After the radio show we moved south on Main Street a couple of doors to the High Court Pub, playing on the outdoor patio for the rest of the evening. More friends showed up there to sing along with familiar Irish songs. We made lots of new friends who were in town for shopping, biking, and an evening of fun music.

In the middle of the month, the band returned to Chatfield for a couple of hours of traditional music in the city park during Western Days. Lots of people joined us in front of the band shell, moving their chairs now and then to keep out of the strong sun on that toasty summer afternoon.

Western Days in Chatfield

We do love playing at the Four Daughters Vineyard in Spring Valley. The food is delicious, the space is elegant, and the staff is so friendly! Several dear friends stopped by for dinner, drinks and music. One couple said it was their first visit to the restaurant, and they told me that they had a great time and will return soon. We feel the same way! We will be back next month, so check out the band’s calendar and plan to join us for an evening of fun and music.

St. Charles Gladiolus Days

August started with a town festival, and we ended the month with our first appearance at another festival, the St. Charles Gladiolus Days. We played for an appreciative crowd which included a lot of good friends. Some friends we hadn’t seen in a long time stopped by to chat, listen to good music, and sample the food truck wares. Our St. Charles friends can join us again in October at the Good Sports Bar. Follow the band on Facebook to get details.

Sadly, we had to cancel our last performance of the month at Riverside on the Root in Lanesboro because of rain. Don’t despair, you can probably see us there again next summer, or you can catch the band at Kutzky Park PorchFest on September 15. We’re working on several other opportunities, besides the ones you see on the calendar already.

If you have a favorite pub or restaurant, or are planning a church event or private party, please consider RavensFire for a fun musical addition. We love to play and are happy to work with you. Please send Melissa an email or call her at 507-272-6710
